The world today believes that the Christian life is a restrictive life. The moment you become a Christian, you can no longer have any fun…life as you know it is now over. Personally, I couldn’t disagree more. Because I choose not to commit adultery, because I love my wife and family; is that restrictive? Because I refuse to lie or steal; is that what you call restrictive? Because I choose to no longer allow drugs, alcohol, or any other addiction control me, and take from me what I could give to my family; is that restrictive?
Just because I’ve chosen to live my life according to God’s Word, that doesn’t mean I’ve given up on life, and can no longer have any fun. No! Now that I’m a believer, I’m living life more than I ever have. In fact, I’m living the life of abundance, just as Jesus promised. When life throws me a curve ball, I’m living with a peace that passes understanding. Today, as a Christian, I live with more joy and a sense of fulfillment, than I ever have before. No, Christianity isn’t restrictive…it’s the opposite of that; it’s liberating. For whom the Son sets free, is free indeed.
